Thank you for your purchase. Every Toad Ranch habitat, stand and hood is built to order in our Missouri shop from American-made plastics, and every one is put together by hand here before it ever goes in a box.
Your habitat has already been built once- no wayward screws here
Every panel is cut on our CNC, so the holes, edges and hardware line up the same way on every unit we make. Then a person assembles it — by hand, in the shop — and confirms the panels seat flush, the screw holes align, and the front frame sits true. The fit isn't something you discover at your kitchen table. It's proven before the enclosure is packed.
That's why assembly is short work:
- Front frames arrive pre-assembled, with the tempered glass door track already installed
- Five body panels fasten to the front frame — that's the whole build
- One screw size throughout, no sorting, no leftover hardware
- Every hole is pre-drilled in the same operation that cut the panel
Inspected, then flat packed
Nothing ships until it passes inspection for fit and finish. Once it does, we take it back apart and flat pack it, and both of those steps are deliberate.
Flat packing protects the habitat in transit. A box of flat panels has no corners to rack, no doors to rattle and no leverage points for a forklift to find — the panels travel supported against each other rather than as a hollow shell absorbing every bump.
It also makes the habitat far easier to live with on arrival. Flat panels go through a standard doorway, up a staircase, around a landing and into a second-floor reptile room. A fully assembled 6-foot enclosure does none of those things. You assemble it where it's going to live, which is the only place the size matters.
What you'll need
A screwdriver is enough. A drill or electric driver is faster — keep the clutch set low so you don't overtighten or strip. A flat, rigid surface to build on matters more than the tools do.

Troubleshooting-
Why isn’t my enclosure top panel lining up correctly?
Every Toad Ranch enclosure is precision CNC-cut and fully pre-assembled in our shop before it ships. That dry-fit is how we confirm the panels, screw holes, and front frame line up cleanly — so the parts you receive are already proven to fit.
If the top looks off during your build, it is almost always one of two things:
1. The enclosure is being assembled on an uneven surface. Carpet, a warped workbench, or a floor that isn’t level will throw the box out of square as you add panels. Build on a flat, rigid surface (a level table, garage floor, or sheet of plywood works well). Level the habitat once it is together as well — that also keeps stacked units looking tight.
2. The already-assembled panels just need a small adjustment. The body is already together; it may only need a slight nudge so the top holes line up. Seat the top with the label facing in and the arrow toward the front, then fasten. Do not force screws. If a hole is shy, ease the panel rather than driving the screw at an angle.
A few extra habits that help:
- Confirm every panel arrow points the correct direction (front on the sides/top/bottom; up on the back).
- Seat cords in the back-panel grooves *before* you fasten the top.
- Start every screw, then snug them in sequence once the top sits flush. An electric driver is fine — keep the clutch low so you do not strip or overtighten.
- If you are stacking, level each unit before dropping in the dowels.
The fit is already there. A level surface and a small panel tweak almost always bring the top into perfect alignment.
