Quality product

This is a very well built product and works as described.
However it gives off a great deal more heat than I was lead to believe.
My install is on the inside of the top of the enclosure and it tends to make the enclosure much hotter than desired.
I find it necessary to run the vent fan many more hours than planned in order to remove excess heat. It has a hard time keeping up.
If It could be mounted on the outside top it would be fine.
That is not how my cage is built.

Two outlets malfunctioning

I purchased the Herpstat 4 and was immediately excited when it arrived. The first two days is worked wonderfully, but then the issues started. I keep a Dumeril’s Boa which requires a hot spot of no more than 90 and warm side ambient temps from 80 to 85. I had the DHP plugged into outlet one and woke up to a hot side ambient of about 100 degrees. After some troubleshooting I realized the number one outlet was constantly providing voltage, even when disabled. I also discovered the number four outlet was doing the same. I verified by plugging a light into them when disabled and bingo, the light turned on with both of them. They also turned on the light when I set a temperature lower than what the probe was reading which should have applied no power, but they did.

Long story short, only outlets two and three work correctly so in essence, I purchased a Herpstat 2 by paying the price of a Herpstat 4. So disappointing.

Easy to assemble, looks great, and has holes in the back for wires so I don’t have to see all the cables lying around. (That’s more a plus for my wife)
